Role: Renowned civil/military leader; appears across winter counts and agency references in the same leadership circle as Spotted Elk. Crazy Horse's right hand man. Violet Catches and Vivian High Elk are descendants. 
 

HUMP — Minneconjou leader (family record)
Role: Prominent headman/war leader listed alongside his brothers in family accounts and regional histories. Donovin Sprague is a descendant
 

ROMAN NOSE — Minneconjou headman
Role: Named as a brother in family tradition; associated with the same Minneconjou bands as Spotted Elk.  Document Seeking.
 

FROG — Minneconjou
Role: Appears in  accounts with Touch the Clouds, Hump, and Roman Nose; part of the same sibling set. Document Seeking but Jasper said Frog was a relative.  Marty Frogg is a descendant of Frog.
 

SHE ELK VOICE WALKING — Minneconjou (shirt wearer)
Listed as Jasper Spotted Elk's Uncle but there is some question as to whether or not he was a grand uncle.  Until we have another probate that explicitly names him, we will go with what the Winter Counts say and mark this as documents seeking.

Mentioned in the Ricker interviews as a brother.  Document Seeking. 
 

CRAZY HORSE (Tȟašúŋke Witkó)  -  first cousin (family record)
Tie: Recognized within the tióšpaye as a first cousin to Spotted Elk via close Minneconjou–Oglala kinship. Labeled family tradition / winter-count backed for readers; academic lines vary, so we present the family’s record with that note. There appear to b both Minneconjou and Oglala descendants.  We know of the Clown/ War Eagle family at Cheyenne River and they have probate records, also.

LONE HORN - raised Spotted Elk as his Father

RED FISH - Known in counts as the Elder Brother of Lone Horn 

Unverified:  Lucinda claims to be a sister to Spotted Elk.  She was not present at Wounded Knee.  Document Seeking
